Job Description

The Accounts Payable Officer plays a crucial role in a company's finance department, responsible for managing the company’s bills and ensuring that its vendors are paid accurately and on time. This position involves a range of tasks that are vital for maintaining the financial health of an organization, such as processing invoices, monitoring payments and expenditures, and maintaining accurate records regarding payments to suppliers. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting and finance processes, an eye for detail, and exceptional organizational skills. Proficient in using accounting software and possessing strong communication skills, the Accounts Payable Officer ensures that all financial obligations are met, aiding in the smooth operation of the business.


Responsibilities

  • Process vendor invoices accurately and timely to ensure prompt payment.
  • Monitor and reconcile accounts payable transactions and resolve discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive financial records related to accounts payable.
  • Prepare and process electronic transfers and payments efficiently.
  • Assist in month-end closing processes by providing necessary financial information.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements for all transactions.
  • Communicate effectively with vendors regarding invoices and payment inquiries.
  • Review, research, and resolve any discrepancies related to accounts payable invoices.
  • Analyze and verify financial data and prepare reports as required by management.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure accurate financial practices and processes.
  • Maintain vendor files and ensure all documentation is kept up-to-date and organized.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of accounts payable systems and practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.
  • Proven experience in an accounts payable or finance-related role is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting software and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines efficiently.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with vendors and staff.
  • Solid understanding of financial controls and accounting principles.
