Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is responsible for providing specialized nursing care to critically ill newborns in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. This role demands meticulous attention to detail, outstanding communication skills, and the ability to work efficiently in high-pressure environments. Our NICU RNs play a crucial role in monitoring infants' vital signs, administering medications, and providing support and education to families. Responsibilities

  • Monitor and evaluate vital signs which may fluctuate rapidly in NICU patients.
  • Administer medications accurately according to the doctor’s prescriptions and protocols.
  • Assist in complex procedures such as intubation and central line insertion.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records promptly and efficiently.
  • Educate and support families regarding treatment plans, procedures, and hospital policies.
  • Collaborate closely with the healthcare team to ensure comprehensive care for neonates.
  • Assess and respond to changes in patients’ conditions promptly and appropriately.
  • Ensure all equipment used for neonatal care is maintained and functioning properly.
  • Participate in the unit’s quality assurance and improvement activities regularly.
  • Adhere strictly to infection control guidelines and hospital safety protocols.
  • Provide emotional support to parents and involve them actively in the care process.
  • Engage in professional development activities to remain updated on NICU best practices.

Requirements

  • Valid Registered Nurse License .
  • Minimum of one year experience as a Registered Nurse in a neonatal setting.
  • BSN degree from an accredited nursing program is strongly preferred.
  • Certification in Neonatal Resuscitation and Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with families.
  • Ability to handle stress and act efficiently in critical and emergency situations.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development in neonatal care.
