Job Description

We're looking for a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our dynamic ophthalmology team. As a Registered Nurse III specializing in ophthalmology, you will play an integral role in providing exceptional care to patients with various eye conditions. You will utilize your advanced nursing skills to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care within the ophthalmology unit. Your expertise will support the team in offering interventions and treatments, ensuring optimal outcomes for our patients’ eye health. With a firm commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous quality improvement, you will work collaboratively with physicians, staff, and patients to uphold the highest standards of professional nursing practice in a fast-paced environment.


Responsibilities

  • Assess and monitor patients' ophthalmology health status promptly and accurately.
  • Provide advanced nursing care and interventions for complex ophthalmic conditions.
  • Collaborate with ophthalmologists and healthcare team members to create care plans.
  • Administer medications and treatments specific to ophthalmologic procedures.
  • Educate patients and families on eye health, procedures, and postoperative care.
  • Maintain precise and detailed documentation of patient care and progress notes.
  • Conduct pre-operative assessments and post-operative follow-up with patients.
  • Ensure all safety and precautionary measures are adhered to during procedures.
  • Participate in training and supervise less experienced nursing staff.
  • Implement quality improvement measures to enhance departmental operations.
  • Use specialized ophthalmology equipment with proficiency and according to protocols.
  • Provide support in emergency and high-stress situations with a calm demeanor.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
  • Current RN license to practice .
  • Minimum of five years of nursing experience, with at least two in ophthalmology.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
  • Strong knowledge of ophthalmic anatomy, diseases, and clinical procedures.
  • Outstanding communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively.
  • Proficient in using Electronic Health Records (EHR) and other healthcare software.
