Job Description

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Quantity Surveyor specialized in steel structures to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing all aspects of the contractual and financial side of construction projects related to steel structures. You will be responsible for monitoring budgets, reviewing contracts, and ensuring that projects are completed efficiently, on time, and within budget. Applicants should have a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and a comprehensive understanding of the steel construction industry. This role would suit someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and possesses outstanding communication and negotiation skills.


Responsibilities

  • Perform cost analysis and manage project budgets for steel structures with accuracy.
  • Prepare detailed contract reports and ensure compliance with contract terms.
  • Analyze and report on all cost-related aspects of construction projects.
  • Administer contract variations, claims, and extension of time requests diligently.
  • Assist in the preparation of tender documents and manage costings for tenders.
  • Liaise regularly with clients, site managers, and subcontractors to ensure project alignment.
  • Evaluate completed work to ensure compliance with project specifications and standards.
  • Conduct detailed analysis of progress reports and adjust financial forecasts accordingly.
  • Identify potential risks in project execution and prepare mitigation strategies.
  • Negotiate contract terms, conditions, and pricing effectively with stakeholders.
  • Track changes to the design or construction work and adjust budget projections.
  • Prepare interim valuations and final accounts, contributing to financial performance reviews.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience specializing in steel structure projects.
  • Proficient in the use of relevant software packages like AutoCAD and Excel.
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts and financial processes is essential.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills are mandatory.
  • Ability to efficiently manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Professional accreditation such as RICS is preferred or working towards accreditation.
