Job Description

As a Quantity Surveyor, your primary role will be to manage all costs relating to building and civil engineering projects, from the initial calculations to the final figures. Beyond merely managing costs, you will ensure all projects are completed within the allocated budgets without compromising quality. You will prepare cost estimates, manage budgets, and oversee contractual arrangements to minimize costs and enhance value for money, delivering projects that meet client expectations. Working closely with architects, engineers, contractors, and clients, your expertise in financial management and negotiation will ensure smooth project outcomes.


Responsibilities

  • Conduct cost analysis and prepare budget reports for construction projects.
  • Oversee project budget from initial estimate to project completion.
  • Evaluate tenders from contractors and subcontractors to ensure optimal pricing.
  • Manage the procurement process, assessing and selecting suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and measurements for construction materials.
  • Negotiate contracts and ensure that all stakeholders adhere to agreements.
  • Liaise with clients and design teams to meet financial and project objectives.
  • Prepare and submit final accounts and progress reports to clients and contractors.
  • Evaluate completed projects and ensure compliance with set financial agreements.
  • Coordinate with engineering and architectural teams to align with project budgets.
  • Manage and mitigate project risks through effective financial planning and forecasting.
  • Employ an analytical approach to improve the efficiency of the project cost management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in quantity surveying or construction cost management.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency with survey software and methods.
  • Exceptional budgeting, financial management, and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with an emphasis on detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams and stakeholders.
  • Professional certification or membership in relevant organizations is an advantage.
