Job Description

The Project Manager for Ship Repairing is entrusted with overseeing and coordinating ship repair projects from inception to completion. This critical role demands a strategic thinker capable of planning and executing projects within budgetary guidelines and timeframe constraints while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety. The Project Manager collaborates closely with clients, shipyard teams, and other stakeholders to ensure all repair and maintenance tasks are performed efficiently and effectively. This role requires a blend of technical expertise in ship repairs, strong leadership abilities to manage diverse teams, and exceptional project management skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously. A successful candidate will possess a deep understanding of the maritime industry, particularly ship repair processes, and be adept at solving complex challenges that may arise during project progression.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage project plans for ship repair operations effectively and efficiently.
  • Oversee budget allocations to ensure all ship repair projects remain within financial constraints.
  • Coordinate with shipyard teams and external contractors to streamline repair activities.
  • Ensure compliance with all maritime regulations and safety standards during repairs.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to deliver results on time and within scope.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements with vendors and service providers adeptly.
  • Perform risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential project risks.
  • Prepare detailed reports and documentation to present to stakeholders regularly.
  • Monitor project progress and adjust plans as needed to address unforeseen challenges.
  • Ensure all project deliverables meet client quality expectations and industry standards.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and technologies to improve project outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five years experience in project management within the ship repair industry.
  • Strong understanding of ship repair processes and maritime industry standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to manage diverse teams effectively.
  • Proficient in project management software and tools such as MS Project or Primavera.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines and budgets.
  • Certification in Project Management Professional (PMP) is highly preferred.
  • Proven ability to negotiate and manage contracts and agreements with vendors.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to tackle complex project challenges.
  • Knowledge of risk management and mitigation strategies in ship repair projects.
