Job Description

NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) Technicians are critical in various industries where equipment and material integrity is of utmost importance. These professionals are skilled in performing inspections and testing on structures and components without causing any damage, ensuring safety and reliability. NDT Technicians utilize an array of techniques such as ultrasonic, radiographic, magnetic particle, and liquid penetrant testing to detect defects that might compromise the integrity of the equipment. They work across multiple sectors including manufacturing, construction, aerospace, oil and gas, and more. Effective communication skills are essential as they often work closely with engineers, managers, and other stakeholders to report findings and make recommendations. The role requires a diligent approach to problem-solving and adherence to strict safety and quality standards to ensure compliance with industry regulations.


Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough non-destructive tests to assess the quality of materials and components.
  • Interpret and evaluate test results in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and specifications.
  • Ensure all testing equipment is well-maintained and functioning correctly before conducting tests.
  • Document and report all findings clearly and accurately for review and further analysis.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to provide feedback and recommendations based on test results.
  • Maintain updated knowledge of the latest NDT methods and industry best practices.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to protect oneself and equipment during testing.
  • Assist in training new technicians on various non-destructive testing methods and equipment usage.
  • Apply problem-solving skills to evaluate complex issues during testing processes and investigations.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and company quality policies during testing activities.
  • Identify equipment malfunctions and troubleshoot issues to resume testing without delays.
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports for clients and maintain accurate records for future reference.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required for NDT Technician roles.
  • Certification in NDT methods such as ASNT, NAS410, or PCN is necessary.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in conducting non-destructive testing in relevant industries.
  • Strong understanding of various NDT methods like ultrasonic, radiographic, and magnetic particle testing.
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to interpret complex technical data and results.
  • Proficiency in using and calibrating NDT testing equipment and tools is required.
  • Ability to adhere to safety standards and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
