Job Description

The MEP Estimator role is pivotal for construction projects, focusing on Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems. As an MEP Estimator, you will be responsible for calculating the costs of various project elements, providing critical financial insights, and helping guide project budgeting and planning. You will work closely with architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure that all estimates are accurate and comprehensive. Your estimates will lay the groundwork for smooth operations, keeping projects within financial limits while ensuring high-quality outcomes. Strong analytical skills, knowledge of industry standards, and the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams are essential in this role.


Responsibilities

  • Produce detailed cost estimates for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems projects.
  • Analyze blueprints, specifications, and other documentation to prepare accurate estimates.
  • Work closely with architects and engineers to understand scope and requirements.
  • Coordinate with project managers to align estimates with project timelines and budgets.
  • Evaluate material requirements and labor efforts for accurate cost estimating.
  • Maintain a database of historical cost data for reference and analysis.
  • Update estimates as project plans change or new information becomes available.
  • Provide value engineering suggestions to optimize project cost-efficiency.
  • Collaborate with procurement teams to ensure current market costs are reflected in estimates.
  • Attend meetings to discuss project progress and refine estimates accordingly.
  • Prepare detailed reports and documentation for all cost estimates generated.
  • Ensure all estimates comply with industry standards and company policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in estimating within the MEP field.
  • Proficiency in estimating software and tools, such as Trimble or PlanSwift.
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems is essential.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills for accurate cost calculation.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in estimating and reporting.
