Job Description

As an MEP Estimator, you will play a crucial role in the construction and engineering industries by analyzing projects and determining their costs for the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) aspects. This position requires a keen eye for detail, expertise in cost analysis, and a thorough understanding of all MEP systems. You will collaborate with architects, project managers, and engineers to develop accurate estimates that help guide projects from conception through completion. Your ability to foresee potential challenges, assess risks, and ensure all bids are competitive yet profitable is paramount. Success in this role means delivering precise cost estimates that align with industry standards and client expectations.


Responsibilities

  • Analyze construction drawings and specifications to determine MEP requirements and costs.
  • Collaborate with architects and engineers to gather detailed information for estimates.
  • Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for MEP systems in projects.
  • Review vendor pricing, material costs, and subcontractor bids for accuracy.
  • Consult with MEP service providers to obtain up-to-date pricing and methodologies.
  • Create comprehensive bid proposals with detailed breakdowns and justifications.
  • Assess project risks and develop mitigation strategies to avoid cost overruns.
  • Regularly update and maintain cost databases related to MEP systems.
  • Ensure compliance with local codes and regulations in all estimated projects.
  • Provide support and clarifications during bid reviews and negotiations.
  • Present estimation findings to internal teams and external clients clearly.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends and technological advancements affecting MEP systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Plumbing Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in MEP estimating or a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of MEP systems, materials, and industry practices.
  • Proficient in estimation software and tools such as AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Exceptional analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills are essential.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with diverse teams.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
