Job Description

The role of an MEP Document Controller is pivotal in the construction and engineering sectors, particularly within Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) disciplines. This position involves handling various types of documentation and maintaining orderly records. An MEP Document Controller is responsible for the establishment and management of document systems to ensure the accuracy, quality control, and smooth flow of documents between the departments, teams, and clients. This position requires meticulous attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to interact effectively with engineering professionals, project managers, and stakeholders. Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain a comprehensive document control system for MEP projects.
  • Oversee the distribution of all project-related documentation to relevant stakeholders effectively.
  • Coordinate with engineering teams to ensure accurate documentation for all MEP systems.
  • Monitor the accuracy of received documents to ensure all standards and protocols are met.
  • Organize and archive all historical MEP documents for quick reference and retrieval.
  • Implement document management policies and ensure compliance across all project teams.
  • Provide training and support on document control processes and procedures as necessary.
  • Prepare regular reports on the document control status and present to project management.
  • Facilitate document revisions and ensure updates are effectively communicated and recorded.
  • Ensure proper document security, version control, and confidentiality protocols are followed.
  • Coordinate the setup and management of a shared electronic document management system.
  • Assist in the preparation of tender documentation and ensure compliance with company standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in document control within the construction industry.
  • Proficient in using document management software and various MS Office applications.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and analytical skills required for the role.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and meet tight deadlines consistently.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy and data integrity.
  • Experience working with an MEP contractor or knowledge of MEP systems is an advantage.
