Job Description

As a vital member of the healthcare team, the Medical Receptionist is responsible for ensuring smooth operation and exemplary front-line service for patients visiting the medical facility. This role requires excellent organizational and communication skills to manage appointment scheduling, patient inquiries, and administrative tasks efficiently. The Medical Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for patients, creating a welcoming and supportive environment. They handle various interactions both face-to-face and over the phone, requiring a keen attention to detail and a compassionate demeanor. By managing administrative duties, they enable healthcare professionals to focus on patient care, thus playing a crucial role in delivering excellent healthcare services.


Responsibilities

  • Welcome and check-in patients in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Manage and schedule patient appointments to maximize clinic efficiency.
  • Answer telephone inquiries and route calls to appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain patient records, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy at all times.
  • Assist patients with completing necessary paperwork and forms upon arrival.
  • Coordinate with medical staff to ensure timely delivery of patient services.
  • Handle billing and payment processes, including insurance verifications.
  • Monitor waiting room activities and ensure patient needs are promptly addressed.
  • Enter patient information into medical databases with high attention to detail.
  • Manage office supplies and inform management of any necessary restocks.
  • Ensure the reception area is clean, well-organized, and welcoming to all visitors.
  • Provide general administrative support to healthcare staff as required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent is required for this position.
  • Prior experience in a medical office setting is highly desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required for this role.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health records and appointment scheduling software.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Compassionate and professional demeanor when dealing with patients and staff.
