Responsibilities

• Review and analyze medical records to assign accurate diagnostic codes.
• Ensure the utilization of correct CPT and HCPCS codes for procedures.
• Work closely with medical staff to clarify ambiguous documentation.
• Stay current with coding updates and ICD-10 coding guidelines.
• Participate in regular audits of medical coding activities for compliance.
• Communicate effectively with billing staff to resolve coding disputes.
• Enter and validate billing information in the practice management system.
• Assist in developing policies for improved coding procedures and accuracy.
• Educate staff on proper coding standards and practices as needed.
• Maintain the confidentiality of patient information and coding data.
• Prepare and submit reports on coding activities and discrepancies.
• Collaborate in resolving any claims adjudication issues promptly.

Requirements

• Certification as a Medical Coder, such as CPC, CCS, or equivalent.
• Proven experience in medical coding, especially with ICD-10 and CPT codes.
• Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and billing systems.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to multitask under pressure.
• Strong communication skills to work effectively with healthcare providers.
• Understanding of healthcare reimbursement policies and billing procedures.
