Manager - Editorial English

The Communications team plays a crucial role in the success of Expo City Dubai by driving awareness, engagement and positioning.

The team handles all external communications, including strategic communications, earned news, crisis communications, media relations, editing, media partnerships, as well as attracting media to cover activities in the city, ultimately attracting tenants and visitors to Expo City Dubai. The Communications team is responsible for messaging and reputation management, ensuring that all MarComms activity draws upon the legacy and goodwill created by Expo 2020 Dubai.

The Manager - Editorial is responsible for ensuring the quality and accuracy of all English language comms content, working with internal and external stakeholders to write and edit content that supports Expo City Dubai’s strategic objectives.

The main responsibilities for this role include:

• Assist the Head of Strategic Communications with editorial planning and strategy as required
• Maintain Expo City Dubai’s editorial guidelines and ensure consistent style, tone and messaging across all communications
• Query and critique content to ensure it best represents Expo City Dubai’s brand and reputation
• Review and maintain consistently high standards of quality across all communications
• Advise on most effective formats for external communication content e.g. press release, oped, etc.

Operational responsibilities:

• Write and/or edit press releases, statements to media, media and consumer Q&As, key messages, blog posts, social media posts and other documents related to Expo City Dubai initiatives and announcements
• Write and/or edit opeds, speeches and other strategic and specialist content that helps tell Expo City Dubai’s story
• Identify and recommend compelling story angles to promote Expo City, its initiatives and activities
• Work closely with the media engagement team to help generate positive press coverage of Expo City Dubai
• Review promotional and internal communications material
• Coordinate with other departments to fulfil tasks in a timely manner
• Assist with any other reasonable editing, writing or operational tasks as requested by the Head of Strategic Communications in assisting the strategic objectives of Expo City Dubai

Knowledge, Qualifications and Skills required

6+ years’ experience in a similar role – in-house or at a media outlet as well as:

• BA degree or equivalent in journalism or a relevant subject
• Native level of written and spoken English
• Expert level of written English, with the ability to produce clean and accurate material in a timely manner
• Experience in communications planning, media engagement and social media
• Excellent attention to detail
• Flexible attitude and the ability to work under pressure

• Experience of working with a holding company with multiple business units
