The Lifting Equipment Inspection Engineer plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and compliance of lifting equipment used in various industrial operations. This position requires the engineer to conduct thorough inspections, assessments, and maintenance checks on lifting devices such as cranes, hoists, and forklifts. The role also involves providing technical advice and guidance on lifting protocols and practices, ensuring they adhere to industry standards and regulations. The ideal candidate must possess a strong attention to detail, extensive knowledge of safety standards, and the ability to identify potential risks and solutions. Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular inspections and evaluations of all lifting equipment to ensure safety compliance.
  • Develop and implement inspection schedules and preventive maintenance programs for lifting gear.
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports with actionable insights and recommendations for improvements.
  • Identify wear and tear, defects, and mechanical issues in lifting equipment and suggest solutions.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry standards, codes, and regulations pertaining to lifting equipment.
  • Provide technical support and advice regarding lifting operations and equipment usage.
  • Train and guide staff on correct lifting procedures and safety measures to minimize risks.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to develop innovative solutions for lifting equipment challenges.
  • Ensure documentation of inspection results and maintenance activities are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Manage equipment inventory and ensure spare parts are available for timely repairs and replacements.
  • Respond promptly to emergency equipment failures and provide on-site troubleshooting services.
  • Conduct risk assessments and propose mitigation strategies to reduce potential equipment-related hazards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field is required.
  • Minimum of three years' experience in equipment inspection, preferably in the lifting industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA and industry safety regulations applicable to lifting equipment.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret technical documents and blueprints.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively report inspection findings to stakeholders.
  • Capability to work independently with minimal supervision and make informed decisions.
  • Certifications in Lifting Equipment Inspection, such as LEEA, are highly desirable.
