Job Description

A lifeguard plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of all individuals at aquatic facilities, such as swimming pools, beaches, and water parks. This role requires vigilant observation, proactive prevention of accidents, and prompt response to emergencies. Lifeguards are expected to maintain a safe environment by monitoring swimmers, enforcing safety rules, and providing first aid and CPR when necessary. They contribute to creating a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere for all patrons while adhering to safety protocols and procedures. This position demands excellent communication and decision-making skills, a high level of physical fitness, and a compassionate and reassuring presence to foster a sense of security among visitors. Lifeguards often interact with diverse groups of people, making effective interpersonal skills essential for fostering a positive and friendly environment. Responsibilities

  • Monitor the swimming area to ensure safety and compliance with regulations.
  • Recognize and respond effectively to emergencies to prevent accidents or injuries.
  • Enforce all safety rules and regulations to maintain an orderly swimming environment.
  • Maintain constant surveillance of patrons to identify potential hazards quickly.
  • Provide emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.
  • Educate and inform patrons about water safety programs and policies.
  • Communicate and provide information to individuals effectively, ensuring clarity on safety protocols.
  • Conduct regular facility checks and inspections to identify and address potential safety hazards.
  • Perform basic housekeeping tasks to keep the pool area clean and safe.
  • Participate in regular training sessions to ensure skills and qualifications remain current.
  • Assist with pool operations, including opening and closing procedures.
  • Handle customer complaints and concerns with professionalism and empathy.


Requirements

  • Current certification in lifeguarding, CPR, and First Aid from a recognized organization.
  • Strong swimming skills and the ability to perform rescues in various conditions.
  • Ability to remain alert and focused in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills for clear interaction with patrons and staff.
  • Physical fitness and endurance are required to perform rescues and emergency responses.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Prior experience as a lifeguard or in a related role is preferred but not mandatory.
