Lead Data Governance Engineer

Job Purpose

The Data Governance department is dedicated to ensuring that data across the organization is accurate, trusted, and well-managed. By implementing best-in-class tools like Collibra, the team supports data transparency, compliance, and usability. We work cross-functionally to establish and enforce governance standards, enabling data-driven decision-making at scale.

Lead Data Governance Engineer is responsible for maximising the value and scope of our data governance platform, Collibra. This role is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust integrations between Collibra and various enterprise data sources and systems, automating metadata ingestion, lineage capture, and data quality processes.

In This Role, You Will

• Design, develop, and implement technical integrations between the Collibra Platform and various source systems (data warehouses, data lakes, operational databases, BI tools, and cloud platforms), leveraging Collibra Connect, MuleSoft, or similar to build real-time and batch data synchronisation solutions.
• Develop custom workflows, dashboards, and reporting within Collibra to enhance usability and enforce governance policies.
• Automate the ingestion of technical metadata (e.g., schemas, tables, columns, data types) and business metadata into Collibra.
• Implement and maintain automated data lineage capture from source to consumption.
• Develop scripts, processes and solutions within Collibra to manage the metadata lifecycle and establish links between data quality rules, metrics and data assets.
• Work closely with Data Stewards, Data Architects, Data Engineers and other technical teams to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Document integration designs, technical specifications, and operational procedures thoroughly.
  
  

Qualification

To be considered for the role, you must meet the below requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree (12+3 or equivalent) in Computer Science or a related field, with over 5 years of experience in Information Technology.
• Experience in data and analytics, data governance or data engineering
• Hands-on experience as a Data Engineer, ETL Developer, or Integration Engineer, with a strong focus on data governance platforms.
• Strong experience with Python, SQL and relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL).
• Expertise in building workflows, creating custom connectors, and strong proficiency in Java, Groovy, Python, and REST APIs.
• Understanding of data warehousing, data lakes, and cloud data platforms (e.g., Azure Data Lake, AWS S3, Snowflake, Databricks).
• Preferred hands-on experience with Collibra, Postman, and developing Spring Boot applications, MuleSoft and Apache Camel to support Collibra custom connectors.
