Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Kitchen Helper + Assistant Cook with expertise in Indian cuisine to join our dynamic culinary team. The role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth operation of our kitchen, aiding in meal preparation, and maintaining high standards of food hygiene and quality. The ideal candidate has a passion for Indian cuisine, enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, and possesses excellent attention to detail. You will work closely with our chefs, assisting in the preparation of a variety of traditional Indian dishes, and will be responsible for the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen workspace. This position provides a wonderful opportunity to learn and grow in the culinary field, offering exposure to traditional cooking techniques and modern kitchen practices.


Responsibilities

  • Assist the head chef with preparation and cooking of Indian dishes daily.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations before, during, and after shifts.
  • Help in ingredient preparation including chopping vegetables and marinating meats.
  • Ensure all kitchen equipment and utensils are cleaned and properly stored after use.
  • Collaborate with the kitchen team to manage and organize stock and inventory levels.
  • Follow all food safety and hygiene regulations to ensure a safe kitchen environment.
  • Support chefs in plating and presenting dishes to maintain high presentation standards.
  • Assist in receiving, unpacking, and storing of kitchen supplies in the right conditions.
  • Prepare simple dishes under supervision to develop cooking skills and techniques.
  • Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the kitchen manager promptly.
  • Assist with buffet setups and replenishing food items during dining service hours.
  • Participate in regular kitchen cleaning schedules to maintain a pristine environment.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a kitchen environment, preferably in Indian cuisine.
  • Basic knowledge of food safety standards and kitchen hygiene practices.
  • Ability to work well in a team and follow instructions from senior chefs.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask under pressure.
  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with kitchen staff.
  • A passion for food preparation and a desire to learn Indian cooking techniques.
