The Senior Technical Software Engineer is a key technical member of an agile feature team who provides technical leadership while remaining hands-on in software development and problem resolution. The role is responsible for leading technical design, driving the delivery of scalable and secure software solutions, mentoring engineers, and collaborating with architects, stakeholders, vendors, and dependent teams to successfully deliver business outcomes that support the Emirates Group.

In This Role You Will

• Lead the technical design and delivery of medium to large-scale initiatives, translating business requirements into scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions.
• Design, develop, review, and maintain high-quality software in accordance with Emirates Group engineering standards, best practices, and architectural guidelines.
• Provide technical leadership through mentoring, code reviews, knowledge sharing, and guidance to software engineering teams.
• Collaborate with architects, product owners, stakeholders, vendors, and dependent teams to drive successful delivery and resolve technical dependencies, risks, and challenges.
• Drive engineering excellence through secure coding, test automation, CI/CD, observability, refactoring, and continuous improvement practices.
• Lead the resolution of complex technical and production issues, including major incidents, root cause analysis, and service restoration within agreed SLAs.
• Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies, including AI-assisted development tools, and contribute to engineering standards, playbooks, and best practices.
  
  

Qualification

To be considered for the role you must meet the below requirements:

• Degree or Honours (12+3 or equivalent) in Computer Science, Computational Mathematics, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field
• 5+ years of software engineering experience, with proven experience delivering enterprise applications in Agile environments.
• Strong experience designing, developing, and maintaining large-scale, secure, scalable, and highly available enterprise applications.
• Expertise in technologies and frameworks such as Java, Spring Framework, Spring Boot, Hibernate, React, microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, Docker/Kubernetes, cloud platforms, and modern software engineering practices.
• Strong systems analysis, solution design, and architecture skills with the ability to translate complex business requirements into effective technical solutions.
• Solid understanding of software engineering best practices, including secure coding, design patterns, testing strategies, performance optimization, CI/CD, observability, and operational excellence.
• Proven experience leading technical delivery, mentoring engineers, and driving engineering quality across multiple initiatives.
• Strong stakeholder, vendor, and cross-functional collaboration skills, with experience managing technical dependencies and influencing technology decisions.
• Strong problem-solving, risk management, and production support capabilities, including major incident management and root cause analysis.
• Hands-on experience using AI-assisted development tools and an understanding of responsible AI usage and modern AI-enabled software engineering practices.
