Context

Interface Manager

Missions/Main Duties

  • Lead, plan, and manage all interface activities between civil packages (earthworks, structures, stations, depots, utilities diversions, etc.) and other disciplines (track, systems, MEP, architecture, environment, etc.).
  • Develop and maintain the project Interface Management Plan, ensuring alignment with overall project objectives and client requirements.
  • Identify, track, and resolve interface issues or conflicts proactively, ensuring timely resolution and minimal impact on project progress.
  • Maintain an up-to-date interface register, ensuring that all interface risks, actions, and decisions are logged and communicated to relevant parties.
  • Coordinate and facilitate interface meetings and workshops with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and stakeholders to address interface challenges.
  • Review and approve interface management documents, specifications, drawings, and reports from designers and contractors.
  • Support the integration of third-party stakeholders (utilities, authorities, developers, local communities) into project interface processes.
  • Ensure all civil interface activities comply with safety, quality, and sustainability standards and local UAE regulations.
  • Provide expert advice and technical guidance on civil interfaces throughout design, construction, testing, and commissioning stages.
  • Contribute to change management processes in relation to interface impacts, and ensure comprehensive reporting to project leadership.
  • Prepare and present interface progress reports to senior management and the client.
  • Mentor and support interface engineers and other project staff as required.

Profile/Skills

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline; Master’s degree is advantageous.

Background

  • Minimum 12 years’ experience in managing interfaces on large-scale, multidisciplinary infrastructure projects, with at least 5 years on major rail or HSR projects.
  • Proven track record of successful management of civil interfaces (structural, architectural, MEP, systems, utilities, etc.).
  • In-depth knowledge of interface management processes, systems integration, and project management methodologies.
  • Familiarity with international and UAE civil standards, regulations, and authority requirements.
  • Strong stakeholder management, negotiation, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, interface management tools, and relevant engineering software.
  • Experience in the Middle East and working with local authorities is highly desirable.
  • Fluency in English is mandatory; Arabic language skills are an added advantage.
