Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Officer to join our team. The HSE Officer will be responsible for ensuring that all safety and environmental regulations are adhered to, promoting best practices in the workplace, and safeguarding the health and safety of all employees. This role is essential in creating a safe working environment by identifying potential hazards, implementing safety measures, and conducting regular inspections. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of health and safety regulations, excellent communication skills, and the ability to influence others to adopt safe working practices. As a key figure in our organization's safety efforts, the HSE Officer must be proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently to achieve the desired safety outcomes.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive health and safety policies for the organization.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to ensure compliance with policies.
  • Identify potential workplace hazards and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
  • Manage and report on incident and accident investigations ensuring proper documentation.
  • Coordinate and facilitate safety training programs to enhance awareness among employees.
  • Collaborate with management to promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal HSE regulations and legislation.
  • Generate monthly reports on safety performance, incidents, and improvement plans.
  • Monitor and report on environmental performance and sustainability initiatives.
  • Stay informed on industry best practices and integrate them into the organization’s HSE system.
  • Participate in emergency response planning and drills to ensure readiness.
  • Liaise with external bodies on matters relating to workplace safety compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience working in an HSE role within a similar industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for effective hazard identification.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with all levels of staff.
  • Ability to conduct thorough safety training sessions and presentations.
  • Certification in NEBOSH, IOSH, or similar recognized safety qualifications.
