Job Description

The HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) Officer plays a critical role in ensuring that an organization adheres to established safety regulations and protocols, with a goal to protect employee health and minimize environmental hazards. This role involves developing and implementing safety policies, conducting risk assessments, and fostering a culture of safety across all levels of the organization. The HSE Officer works in collaboration with management and employees to identify and mitigate risks, deliver training programs, and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. This position requires a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders to promote a safe and healthy work environment.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive HSE policies and procedures for the organization.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits to identify potential hazards.
  • Collaborate with department heads to ensure compliance with HSE regulations and standards.
  • Lead investigations into incidents, accidents, and near-misses and recommend corrective actions.
  • Organize and deliver HSE training programs for employees across all departments.
  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of the health and safety management system.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of health and safety records and documentation.
  • Advise management on the implications of current and emerging environmental issues.
  • Participate in safety meetings, providing expert advice and guidance on HSE matters.
  • Coordinate emergency response activities, including drills and simulations.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of HSE legislation and industry best practices.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with statutory requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field required.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a similar HSE role is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of safety management systems and risk assessment procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are highly necessary.
  • Certification in HSE practices or equivalent professional credentials preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead training sessions and safety workshops effectively.
  • Proficiency in using safety management software and Microsoft Office Suite applications.
