Job Description

As a Health Care Assistant in the Cath Lab, you will play a vital role in supporting the clinical team and ensuring the smooth operation of the Cath Lab. You will be responsible for assisting nurses and physicians during cardiovascular procedures, ensuring that all equipment is properly sterilized and ready for use, and maintaining a clean and organized environment. Your keen attention to detail and ability to work efficiently in a high-pressure environment will be critical in providing the best possible care to patients. As a compassionate and dedicated individual, you will also help to ensure that patients are comfortable and informed throughout their procedures, assisting with any needs they might have before, during, and after their procedures.


Responsibilities

  • Assist nurses and physicians during cardiovascular diagnostic and interventional procedures.
  • Prepare and maintain the sterilization of all Cath Lab equipment and tools.
  • Ensure that patient reports and other documentation are accurate and up to date.
  • Monitor patients’ vital signs and communicate any changes to the healthcare team.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment in the Cath Lab at all times.
  • Support the Cath Lab team in emergency situations by providing prompt assistance.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth patient flow and care delivery.
  • Provide patient education and information about procedures and post-care instructions.
  • Assist with inventory management, including ordering and stocking supplies as needed.
  • Engage in continuous learning and professional development opportunities related to cardiology.
  • Uphold patient confidentiality and adhere to all healthcare regulations and standards.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance Cath Lab processes and procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education in healthcare preferred.
  • Previous experience in a Cath Lab or cardiovascular setting highly advantageous.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS certification is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare professionals.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and adherence to strict procedural protocols and guidelines.
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift or move patients as needed.
