We are currently hiring an experienced Secondary English Teacher to join the Outstanding team at Deira International School, Festival City, Dubai in October 2025.

The student body has over 80 different nationalities and this diversity is fundamental to the community nature of the school. Our personalised, play-based and continuous provision in the Early Years ensures that students are rigorously assessed against the prime and specific areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage framework. In primary, students receive an enriching and broad curriculum offer, which includes the delivery of several non-core subjects. Our senior students take the IGCSE examinations in Year 11 and move into the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) or International Baccalaureate Career-Related Programme (IBCP) in Years 12 and 13.

The Post: Secondary Psychology Teacher

We are looking for an English Teacher that is available to join in October 2025 who has a genuine passion for their subject and for helping young people achieve their aspirations. The candidate should be enthusiastic about working as part of a team in which their leadership will help others to be the best Psychology teacher they can be. Evidence of success with examination classes is vitally important as well as excellent subject knowledge beyond the requirements of the GCSE and IB curriculums.

The successful candidate will work in a small department which is very popular across both KS4 and KS5. You would be joining a strong, inclusive department with a track record of outstanding progress and attainment. Our staff are dedicated to ensuring every student reaches their potential and have the opportunity to develop a keen interest in the subject to become life-long learners of Psychology.

The Post: Secondary English Teacher

The successful candidate will join an outstanding department. As an English teacher at DIS, you will become part of a highly-skilled and passionate team whom all contribute to planning and delivering an engaging curriculum and support the enrichment opportunities offered by English across the whole school. The IB English Language and Literature course is well-established within the department and its ethos is used in order to shape the journey of all English students from Year 7 upwards. Our concept-focused curriculum allows students to develop their English skills alongside their learner behaviours and communication skills. Most teachers in the department teach across the three Key Stages which supports us in focusing our staff-development on outstanding teaching and learning in English and creates an environment in which all staff can lead and take risks within their practice. At KS4, students study IGCSE English language and literature. GCSE results have seen a three-year trend of outstanding outcomes, with 89% of students attaining A*-B last academic year. Student success continues into IB with 92% of students attaining a Level 5 or above last year and 60% attaining a Level 6 or above. The successful applicant will be required to have the following:

  • A B.Ed. or a degree in a related subject, plus a PGCE/PGDE or equivalent, with exceptional subject knowledge.
  • Proven experience teaching GCSE English (experience teaching A-Level or IB is desirable).
  • A track record of outstanding teaching and student outcomes.
  • A belief that all students have the potential for top performance, and the passion and drive to help them achieve it.
  • The ability to contribute to the wider curriculum and enrichment programmes of the school.
