Job Overview:

The Director HSES role requires comprehensive HSES management and business expertise. They lead HSES Teams to develop, implement and optimize HSES processes, related tools, and resources to manage risks, ensure compliance with applicable regulations, and enhance performance throughout the organization.

Responsibilities

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Drive HSES strategic thinking and action within the organization
  • Coordinate with HSES Operations/Business Line Leads and Directors
  • Develop, review, implement, and provide expert oversight of HSES policies, procedures, practices, standards, and tools
  • Monitor effectiveness and implementation of HSES management and data management systems
  • Monitor HSES performance indicators to provide company guidance on areas for improvement
  • Ensure HSES strategies are communicated effectively and understood across the organization
  • Lead the company in the understanding of HSES requirements and risks related to the business and industry, identify impacts, and determine controls to mitigate them in the most cost-effective way
  • Maintain expert knowledge of relevant industry HSES regulations, codes, standards, and industry-recommended practices and ensure that Global Operations and Business Lines are prepared for compliance with new or revised regulations
  • Ensure effective tracking and sharing of HSES lessons learned and best practices to drive improvement
  • Responsible for HSES functional budget
  • Responsible for compliance with ISO Certifications
  • Perform HSES Assurance activities to ensure effective implementation of processes across the organization
  • Prepare annual HSES program and activity plans aligned with company strategy
  • Provide oversight of Security and Health travel programs throughout the organization
  • Review and manage incident reporting/investigation and corrective action programs
  • Measure and continuously improve the effectiveness of the HSES function and processes
  • Own and lead the implementation, enforcement, and verification of compliance with all McDermott policies and procedures
  • Ensure employees understand their responsibility and authority to effectively implement the requirements of all McDermott policies and procedures
  • Ensure the timely completion of all mandatory training by themselves and their teams

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications and Education:

  • Degree in HSES related field from an accredited University
  • 12+ years of HSES experience within the energy industry
  • Broad knowledge of HSES laws, regulations, and best practices
  • Hold and maintain Industry and professional certifications within the HSE field
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficiency in Management Systems and MS Office Applications
