The DevOps Engineer will be a critical, full-time resource responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the automated build, deployment, and operational processes for the Enterprise Transformation solution. This role is pivotal for establishing and managing the on-premises Kubernetes environment, ensuring the stability, scalability, security, and continuous delivery of the COTS platform and its associated components within the Client's data center. The engineer will champion a culture of automation, reliability, and collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
Kubernetes Environment Management: Design, deploy, configure, and maintain the managed Kubernetes clusters for the COTS platform, ensuring high availability, disaster recovery capabilities, and optimal performance within the Client's data center. This includes managing nodes, pods, services, ingress controllers, and storage.
CI/CD Pipeline Development: Develop, implement, and optimize continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines for both infrastructure provisioning (Infrastructure as Code - IaC) and application deployment, leveraging tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps.
Automation & Scripting: Automate routine operational tasks, infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and application deployments using scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) and IaC tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
Infrastructure Provisioning: Support the on-premises installation and configuration of core infrastructure components, including Cisco UCS servers, Nexus switches, and storage solutions, ensuring adherence to design specifications and best practices.
Monitoring, Logging & Alerting: Implement and manage robust monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack) for the Kubernetes environment and the COTS platform to ensure proactive identification and resolution of issues.
Security Hardening: Implement and enforce security best practices across the DevOps pipeline and the Kubernetes environment, including container security, network policies, secrets management, vulnerability scanning, and adherence to public sector security standards.
Performance Optimization: Continuously monitor and optimize the performance and resource utilization of the Kubernetes clusters and the deployed applications.
Collaboration & Integration: Collaborate closely with development teams (from the COTS vendor), operations teams (Client IT), and security teams to ensure seamless integration and operational readiness.
Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for infrastructure configurations, deployment procedures, operational runbooks, and troubleshooting guides.
Incident Response: Participate in incident response activities, providing expertise for rapid diagnosis and resolution of production issues.
AI/Cloud Integration Support: Configure secure network access and connectivity for AI services (e.g., Azure OpenAI) and other cloud integrations, ensuring optimal performance and compliance.
Qualifications & Skills
Minimum of 5+ years of experience in a DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or similar role, with a strong focus on Kubernetes and on-premises deployments.
Proven experience in designing, deploying, and managing large-scale, production-grade Kubernetes clusters.
Demonstrated experience in automating infrastructure and application deployments in an enterprise setting.
Previous experience in a secure, compliance-driven, or public sector environment is a significant asset.
Fluency in English — reading, writing, and speaking — is mandatory for this role. Arabic is an added advantage.
Must Have
Container Orchestration Expertise: Deep expertise in Kubernetes, including cluster setup, management, troubleshooting, and advanced features (e.g., Helm charts, operators, custom resources).
IaC & Configuration Management: Strong proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible) and configuration management principles.
CI/CD Tools: Hands-on experience with major CI/CD platforms (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps).
Scripting: Excellent scripting skills in Python, Bash, or similar languages.
Linux System Administration: Strong background in Linux operating systems.
Networking: Solid understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, firewalls) relevant to distributed systems and data center environments.
Monitoring & Logging: Experience with enterprise-grade monitoring and logging solutions.
Security: Knowledge of security best practices for containers, Kubernetes, and cloud environments.
Cisco Technologies: Familiarity with Cisco UCS and Nexus switches is highly desirable.
