Job Description

As a Desktop Support Engineer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the functionality and user satisfaction of an organization's IT systems. This position requires a professional who is adept at managing a variety of technical issues with end-user devices such as desktops, laptops, and peripherals. Your primary responsibility is to ensure the optimal performance and reliability of our IT infrastructure while providing technical support and troubleshooting assistance to our users. This involves installation, configuration, and resolution of hardware and software issues, performing routine maintenance, and ensuring security protocols are adhered to. The role demands excellent interpersonal skills for effective communication with users and the ability to work independently and as part of a team to resolve IT problems promptly and efficiently.


Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to employees by diagnosing and resolving software and hardware issues.
  • Install, configure, and maintain operating systems and software applications on desktops and laptops.
  • Manage and maintain company peripherals located within offices, including printers and scanners.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot network connectivity issues to ensure continuous system efficiency.
  • Document all support cases and resolutions in the company’s IT ticketing system accurately.
  • Provide remote support to users through remote desktop tools or by phone.
  • Maintain IT asset inventory, ensuring all equipment is accounted for and up to date.
  • Collaborate with other IT staff to resolve more complex issues outside your expertise.
  • Ensure security and privacy protocols are adopted and applied consistently within the organization.
  • Regularly update operating systems and software to the latest versions available.
  • Train and support new users in efficiently using the company’s IT resources.
  • Assist with onboarding of new employees by setting up workstations and user accounts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Proven experience as a Desktop Support Engineer or similar role.
  • In-depth understanding of computer systems, mobile devices, and other technology products.
  • Proficiency in Windows, MacOS, and standard software applications (e.g., MS Office).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills to liaise with non-technical users effectively.
  • Ability to manage time efficiently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
