The Dental Assistant plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of a dental office, providing essential support to dentists and ensuring that patients receive high-quality oral care. This role includes responsibilities ranging from patient care and administrative tasks to laboratory duties. Responsibilities

  • Assist dentist during various dental procedures and handle necessary instruments.
  • Prepare patient, sterilize or disinfect instruments, and set up instrument trays.
  • Take and develop dental X-rays following strict safety protocols and guidelines.
  • Educate and communicate with patients about dental hygiene and post-operative care.
  • Schedule patient appointments and perform general office administrative tasks.
  • Maintain accurate patient dental records and ensure confidentiality is upheld.
  • Impress oral impressions and handle laboratory equipment effectively and safely.
  • Assist in managing the dental office and implementing efficient workflow procedures.
  • Monitor and order dental supplies to ensure stock levels are maintained appropriately.
  • Ensure adherence to infection control protocols and maintain a safe treatment environment.
  • Perform routine maintenance on dental equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Encourage patient comfort and address patient concerns or queries effectively.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; certification as a dental assistant is preferred.
  • Previous experience as a Dental Assistant or in related healthcare settings is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of dental instruments, procedures, and medical terminology.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for patient-centered care.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Proficiency in dental software and working knowledge of scheduling systems.
  • Ability to comply with all health and safety regulations in a dental environment.
