Job Description

The Datacenter Technology Support Engineer plays a crucial role in maintaining, supporting, and optimizing the technological infrastructure within a data center environment. Tasked with ensuring seamless operations, this professional troubleshoots hardware, software, and network issues. They work closely with the IT team to implement improvements and upgrades while minimizing downtime. Armed with in-depth knowledge of data center operations, the engineer manages system configurations, monitors performance, and ensures robust security protocols are in place. By combining technical expertise with problem-solving skills, the Datacenter Technology Support Engineer ensures that all systems are efficient and reliable, meeting the dynamic needs of the organization.


Responsibilities

  • Monitor and manage data center hardware, ensuring optimal system performance and uptime.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues involving network connectivity, hardware, and software.
  • Implement system and software upgrades to enhance data center capabilities and efficiencies.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of network configurations, hardware inventory, and system setups.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to develop, test, and deploy new technologies and infrastructure projects.
  • Conduct regular audits and risk assessments to ensure compliance with data center standards.
  • Respond promptly to service outages or disruptions, applying solutions to restore functionality.
  • Coordinate with vendors for equipment procurement and manage vendor relations effectively.
  • Assist in the development and execution of disaster recovery plans and procedures.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to junior staff and new engineers in the team.
  • Ensure systems are secure from cybersecurity threats by implementing robust security measures.
  • Contribute to improving processes and procedures to enhance data center operational performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field required.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a data center or IT support role.
  • Strong understanding of network infrastructure, hardware, and software troubleshooting techniques.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with an ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Proficient with data center management software and various operating systems.
  • Familiarity with cloud technologies and virtualized environments is a plus.
  • Ability to work on-call or outside standard business hours when necessary.
