Job Description

A Database Administrator (DBA) plays a crucial role in managing and maintaining the databases crucial to an organization’s operations. They are responsible for ensuring the performance, security, and reliability of databases, enabling seamless access to data for stakeholders. A DBA's work involves implementing best practices for database design, storage, and security while also troubleshooting any issues that might arise. Whether it's optimizing queries or planning for disaster recovery, the DBA must stay informed of the latest technological advancements and adapt the database environment accordingly. Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain the performance, availability, and security of database systems.
  • Design and implement database architectures that support business applications effectively.
  • Develop and enforce database standards and guidelines across the organization.
  • Plan and execute database backup and recovery procedures to prevent data loss.
  • Optimize database systems for performance by upgrading and enhancing configurations.
  • Collaborate with developers to design robust database schemas and optimized queries.
  • Implement security measures to safeguard sensitive data from unauthorized access.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database issues and provide technical support as required.
  • Manage and create database user accounts, assigning roles and permissions securely.
  • Stay updated with the latest database technologies to implement innovative solutions.
  • Develop automation scripts for repetitive database management tasks and processes.
  • Coordinate with IT teams to ensure seamless integration of databases with other systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Database Administrator, with a minimum of three years.
  • Strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices.
  • Proficiency in SQL and other database management tools and languages.
  • Experience with database security, backup, and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail and analytical thinking.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-functional team environment.
