Job Description

The role of a Commis chef, specifically with a focus on Arabic cuisine, is integral within a culinary team committed to creating authentic and innovative dishes. Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing and cooking authentic Arabic dishes under supervision.
  • Maintain high hygiene standards in kitchen practices and food safety.
  • Ensure a clean working environment is maintained at all times.
  • Measure and prepare ingredients according to chef instructions carefully.
  • Assist with menu development by suggesting creative Arabic dish ideas.
  • Monitor stock levels and report shortages to the chef promptly.
  • Prepare basic salads, garnishes, and sauces for various dishes.
  • Coordinate with team members to achieve seamless kitchen operations daily.
  • Conduct regular maintenance checks on kitchen equipment and tools.
  • Participate in training sessions to improve culinary skills and techniques.
  • Communicate effectively with all kitchen staff and related departments.
  • Support senior chefs in the execution of special culinary events and functions.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Commis chef, preferably in Arabic cuisine.
  • A culinary arts degree or relevant certification in culinary education is preferred.
  • Basic understanding of Arabic spices, ingredients, and flavor profiles.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure at busy times in the kitchen.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with team members professionally.
  • Commitment to personal learning and adapting to new culinary trends.
  • Flexibility to work during weekends, evenings, and public holidays as needed.
