Job Description

The Cargo Operations Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient movement of cargo through various transportation channels. This position requires a high level of organizational and communication skills, as well as a keen eye for detail to track shipments and manage logistics timelines. The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of cargo operations, including scheduling, documentation, and vendor management. This individual must be able to work independently while also collaborating with team members, customers, and suppliers to achieve operational excellence. The Cargo Operations Coordinator is essential in maintaining the integrity of cargo operations, addressing logistical challenges, and ensuring customer satisfaction by delivering solutions with speed and accuracy.


Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the scheduling and routing of cargo shipments worldwide.
  • Ensure compliance with international shipping regulations and policies.
  • Monitor and track the progress of all cargo shipments from origin to destination.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for all cargo operations activities.
  • Communicate regularly with vendors, suppliers, and customers to update shipment statuses.
  • Resolve any issues or delays in cargo transportation in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with various departments to streamline logistics processes and costs.
  • Prepare and review shipping documents, including bills of lading and cargo manifests.
  • Conduct regular reviews of transportation methods and suggest improvements.
  • Ensure cargo handling equipment and facilities meet safety standards.
  • Assist in budget management for transportation and logistics-related expenses.
  • Provide support and training to junior staff members in cargo operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management or related field required.
  • A minimum of 3 years experience in cargo operations or logistics is essential.
  • Strong understanding of international trade regulations and compliance.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and multitasking abilities are crucial.
  • Proficient in using logistics software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines is essential.
  • Experience in handling hazardous materials preferred, but not mandatory.
