A Buyer plays a crucial role within any organization, acting as the bridge between suppliers and company operations. This professional is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and acquiring the goods and materials needed for the company to function effectively and efficiently. A Buyer must be adept at analyzing market trends, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring quality compliance of the products procured. They not only contribute to the company's inventory management but also significantly impact the profitability and cost-effectiveness of the organization. With strong negotiation skills and a keen eye for detail, the Buyer ensures that the company obtains the best quality products at competitive prices, meeting both customer expectations and corporate standards. Responsibilities

  • Analyze market trends to forecast future purchase requirements and budgetary considerations.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers for quality purchasing and sourcing.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements to secure advantageous terms for the company.
  • Ensure that purchased goods and services meet company quality and compliance standards.
  • Monitor price trends, product availability, and lead times of potential suppliers.
  • Manage inventory to prevent overstocking or stock outs while optimizing cash flow.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and timeframes.
  • Prepare and process purchase orders according to company protocols and guidelines.
  • Conduct supplier evaluations and audits to verify product quality and reliability.
  • Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness.
  • Resolve any conflicts or issues with suppliers related to invoices or delivery discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with finance team to manage invoice discrepancies and seasonality payments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Buyer or in a similar procurement or purchasing role.
  • Exceptional negotiation and communication skills to build strong supplier relations.
  • Strong analytical abilities with attention to detail for accurate decision-making.
  • Familiarity with sourcing and purchasing techniques, including contract negotiation.
  • Knowledge of market research and analysis for effective purchasing strategies.
  • Proficiency in inventory management software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
