The Business Development Manager – Freight & Logistics role is a critical position responsible for driving growth and sustaining successful client relationships within the freight and logistics industry. This dynamic role requires a strategic thinker, skilled communicator, and adept negotiator who can identify and capitalize on new business opportunities. Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic business development plans to meet company objectives.
  • Identify new business opportunities and secure profitable partnerships with key industry players.
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with both prospective and existing clients.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to create customized logistics solutions that satisfy client needs.
  • Negotiate contracts, terms, and agreements with clients to secure favorable conditions.
  • Analyze market trends and customer needs to identify new service areas and growth strategies.
  • Present compelling sales presentations and proposals to prospective clients.
  • Monitor competitive activity in the market to anticipate business challenges and stay ahead.
  • Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets as determined by company leadership.
  • Regularly report on business development activities, pipeline status, and market feedback.
  • Participate in industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to promote services.
  • Guide and mentor junior staff in best practices for business development and client engagement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in business development, ideally within logistics.
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets and growing client bases in logistics.
  • Strong understanding of freight and logistics industry dynamics and trends.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Ability to work independently, while also being an effective team member.
  • Proficient in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
