Job Description

A Bank Teller is a crucial front-line customer service representative in the banking industry. They play an essential role in day-to-day banking operations, providing friendly, efficient, and professional service to customers. A bank teller handles routine financial transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, and currency exchanges while being responsible for maintaining accurate records of all transactions. This position also involves responding to customer inquiries, resolving discrepancies, and maintaining the security of the cash drawer. With a deep understanding of the bank’s products and services, tellers must also promote sales, identify customer needs, and contribute to the overall success of the bank. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a passion for providing excellent customer service.


Responsibilities

  • Perform daily banking transactions including deposits, withdrawals, and transfers accurately.
  • Maintain and balance cash drawers and ensure cash is secured and accounted for.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by addressing customer needs and inquiries.
  • Assist customers with account-related queries and offer solutions within policy limits.
  • Cross-sell and promote banking products and services to potential and current customers.
  • Identify opportunities for improved customer relations and service enhancements.
  • Resolve discrepancies and report suspicious activities according to the bank’s regulations.
  • Follow bank procedures for various services such as account transfers, payments, and confirmations.
  • Support team objectives by contributing to a positive and productive work environment.
  • Ensure compliance with all policies, regulations, and code of ethics in every transaction.
  • Participate in training sessions and team meetings to enhance skills and learn new banking services.
  • Assist in bank branch operations and administrative tasks as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; further education is an advantage.
  • Previous cash handling or customer service experience is highly desirable.
  • Proficient with basic computer applications including MS Office and banking software.
  • Strong numerical skills and attention to detail for accurate transaction processing.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for customer interaction.
  • Ability to multitask and handle various banking situations under pressure.
  • Trustworthy, with strong ethics to manage confidential customer information.
  • A high degree of patience and problem-solving abilities for customer inquiries.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team as well as independently.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends, as needed.
