The School

Universal American School delivers the US curriculum via New York State Standards. Nurturing inquiry-based learning through multiple pathways including Advanced Placement tracks, IB Diploma Program and Primary Years Program. UAS hosts a Centre for Excellence for Arabic celebrating the Arabic language which aims to promote and enhance the study and understanding of the language through research, education, and collaboration. The school is also run on a not-for-profit basis and is part of the Al Futtaim Education Foundation. Founded in 2005, the school has delivered an inclusive, diverse, and rigorous program for our learners.

Located in Dubai Festival City the UAS campus has extensive facilities on a spacious site including a 25m swimming pool, full gymnasium, 400m running track, grass pitch, art and design studios, teacher wellness room, a newly built state of the art cafeteria, staff professional development space, elementary sports hall and a specialist creative arts block including recording facilities, black box theatre and ceramics room.

The Role: AV Technician

We are seeking a skilled and proactive AV Technician to join our outstanding IT team at Universal American School. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting high-quality teaching, events, and performances across a dynamic, international school environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the setup, operation, maintenance, and continuous reliability of audio-visual systems across the school, ensuring smooth delivery of lessons, performances, and whole-school events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up, operate, and maintain audio, video, lighting, and projection systems for assemblies, concerts, performances, examinations, meetings, and school events
  • Provide technical support for Performing Arts productions, including drama, music, dance, and rehearsals
  • Work closely with the Performing Arts Department to deliver technical requirements for productions and live events
  • Operate and maintain campus PA and communication systems
  • Carry out routine inspections and preventative maintenance of AV systems, including projectors, sound systems, lighting, screens, and control equipment
  • Troubleshoot technical issues quickly to ensure minimal disruption to teaching and events
  • Manage booking and scheduling of AV equipment and facilities
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment, maintenance, and performance logs
  • Support installation, relocation, calibration, and alignment of AV equipment as required
  • Oversee AV inventory, including accessories and consumables, and recommend repair or replacement where necessary
  • Liaise with and supervise external contractors when required
  • Support procurement processes in line with school procedures
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and safeguarding policies at all times
  • Provide occasional L1 technical support to staff and students
  • Support evening and weekend events as required
