Job Description

An Automotive Workshop Manager is an integral part of any vehicle repair and maintenance facility, responsible for overseeing daily operations and ensuring the efficient and profitable running of the workshop. This pivotal role involves managing a team of skilled automotive technicians, ensuring quality control, customer satisfaction, and maintaining adherence to industry standards and safety regulations. The ideal candidate will have robust leadership abilities, thorough knowledge of automotive systems, excellent organizational skills, and an aptitude for problem-solving. They will also be tasked with scheduling repairs and maintenance, maintaining records, and overseeing inventory management. A successful Automotive Workshop Manager is also expected to drive business growth and foster lasting relationships with clients and suppliers.


Responsibilities

  • Directly oversee workshop operations to ensure consistent service delivery and customer satisfaction.
  • Lead and mentor a team of automotive technicians to optimize productivity and efficiency.
  • Develop and implement operational procedures to enhance workflow and safety standards.
  • Monitor and control budgets, expenses, and resources to ensure profitability.
  • Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of workshop tools and equipment.
  • Engage regularly with customers to address service issues and sustain client relations.
  • Coordinate scheduling of repairs and routine maintenance to maximize service throughput.
  • Maintain detailed records of all workshop activities, including repairs and transaction logs.
  • Source and negotiate with suppliers to ensure quality and cost-efficient procurement of parts.
  • Closely monitor key performance indicators to drive improvements and meet business targets.
  • Ensure all activities are compliant with automotive standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Analyze and interpret data to identify trends and inform strategic business decisions.

Requirements

  • A degree or diploma in automotive engineering or a related technical field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in the automotive industry, with leadership roles preferred.
  • Comprehensive understanding of automotive systems and repair techniques is required.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a diverse team.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and keen attention to detail across operations.
  • Proficiency in workshop management software and basic business software applications.
  • Outstanding communication skills to effectively interact with clients and suppliers.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
