Job Description

The Assistant Warehouse Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing daily operations within the warehouse under the supervision of the Warehouse Manager. This position is responsible for ensuring that the overall efficiency and effectiveness of warehouse operations are maintained. The Assistant Warehouse Manager coordinates with various teams to ensure that all warehouse activities are conducted in alignment with company policies and safety standards. Key responsibilities include managing inventory, overseeing receiving and shipping processes, and ensuring that the warehouse functions smoothly to meet delivery schedules. The ideal candidate is highly organized, possesses strong leadership skills, and can thrive in a fast-paced operational environment. This role is essential in supporting the continuous improvement of warehouse processes and contributing to the achievement of the organization’s goals.


Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily warehouse operations, ensuring they are efficient and effective.
  • Assist in managing warehouse staff, including mentoring and performance evaluations.
  • Develop and implement inventory control procedures to prevent loss and damage.
  • Oversee receiving and shipping schedules to meet delivery timelines consistently.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards within the warehouse.
  • Assist in planning and implementing new designs for storage and retrieval systems.
  • Collaborate with other departments to improve the supply chain process.
  • Monitor warehouse expenses and optimize costs wherever possible.
  • Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of warehouse equipment and systems.
  • Prepare reports on warehouse operations for management review on a regular basis.
  • Ensure all documentation related to warehousing is accurate and up to date.
  • Handle customer and supplier inquiries and resolve issues promptly.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in warehouse management or similar roles.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage staff effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, logistics, and inventory management.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in warehouse management software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to analyze data, develop solutions, and implement strategic plans.
