Job Description

The Assistant Restaurant Manager plays a critical role in supporting the Restaurant Manager in overseeing the day-to-day operations of a dining establishment. This position is responsible for ensuring high standards of customer service, managing team members, maintaining inventory levels, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. The Assistant Restaurant Manager must be able to handle the pressures of a fast-paced environment, make quick decisions, and solve problems efficiently. This role requires strong leadership skills to motivate and train staff while maintaining a pleasant dining experience for customers. Additionally, the Assistant Restaurant Manager works collaboratively with kitchen and serving staff to provide an exceptional dining experience that aligns with the company’s goals and standards.


Responsibilities

  • Assist the Restaurant Manager in daily operational tasks and decision making.
  • Oversee and manage the dining room during operating hours to ensure smooth service.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations in the restaurant.
  • Assist in hiring, training, and mentoring of staff to maintain high service standards.
  • Manage inventory levels and order supplies to ensure availability and reduce wastage.
  • Handle customer complaints and feedback promptly and professionally to ensure satisfaction.
  • Supervise and evaluate restaurant staff performance and provide constructive feedback.
  • Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure timely and accurate food delivery service.
  • Assist in financial management tasks, including budgeting and financial reporting.
  • Monitor operational costs to ensure efficiency and meet profit targets.
  • Support marketing and promotional activities to attract and retain patrons.
  • Help in creating and updating restaurant policies and operational procedures.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a supervisory or management role in the restaurant industry.
  • Strong leadership qualities with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards in restaurants.
  • Ability to handle difficult situations and resolve customer complaints effectively.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, overtime, and holidays as needed in the restaurant industry.
  • Familiarity with restaurant management software and point-of-sale systems.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask under pressure.
