The Assistant Professor of Microbiology develops and delivers courses in microbiological sciences to students in health-related programs, including pharmacy, nursing and physiotherapy. This role focuses on achieving excellence in teaching, research, and service while evaluating student progress, managing instructional resources, and supporting accreditation initiatives. The position commences in the Fall semester of the 2025-2026 academic year and contributes to the Universitys mission by fostering academic growth, innovation, and community engagement in microbiology and allied fields.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Designs, develops, and delivers engaging courses in microbiology and related disciplines to students in health sciences, including pharmacy, nursing and physiotherapy, aligning with the Universitys core pillars: Teaching, Research, and Community Service.
Assesses student performance, provides constructive feedback, and mentors students to foster academic and professional growth.
Research, curates, and manages educational resources, course syllabi, and professional networks to enhance learning outcomes.
Identifies and implements innovative teaching methods, tools, and resources to optimize course delivery and student engagement.
Contributes to accreditation processes and institutional quality assurance initiatives.
Undertakes additional duties as assigned to support departmental and university goals.
Qualifications & Experience
A PhD in Microbiology from a reputable, accredited university.
Graduation from an institution using the credit-hour system, with English as the primary language of instruction.
At least two years of relevant teaching experience at the university level.
Proficiency in leveraging technology for education, including presentation software, e-learning platforms, and digital reporting tools.
A strong publication record and relevant industry experience in microbiology or allied fields.
Knowledge & Skills
Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
Strong presentation development and delivery skills.
Proven ability to collaborate effectively within diverse, multicultural teams.
Expertise in creating, editing, and managing written content.
Solid skills in program planning, execution, and evaluation.
Familiarity with student information management systems and educational technologies.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in classrooms, laboratories, offices, and potentially research or clinical settings within the University and affiliated institutions.
May involve standing for extended periods during lectures or lab sessions.
Regular use of computers, presentation equipment, and educational technologies with adherence to safety and institutional protocols.
