As an Aircraft Structural Engineer I, you will be responsible for the supervision of staff under his control on a daily basis whether on aircraft or in the workshop and to ensure that all structure repairs, rectifications and modifications carried out to components in the workshop or to aircraft in base and line maintenance are implemented in accordance with approved documentation, in a safe manner to correct quality standards and certified in accordance with the limitations of company authorisations.
In This Role, You Will
Ensure the work assigned for repair, rectification or modification is carried out I.A.W. the approved documentation issued by the approved authorities ensuring compliance is maintained to the latest revisions applicable to Technical Publications e.g. aircraft documentation, Technical Notices, Quality Notices, EPMs ...etc). Individuals must ensure their personal approval/Authorisations requirements are valid and applicable to aircraft types worked through close liaison with Quality Assurance/GCAA.
Ensure all off-aircraft tasks i.e. spares handling, robberies, hold items...etc are handled strictly IAW company procedures and all the relevant paperwork is actioned in a way that provides full transparency to all involved.
Ensure resources and manpower available is supportive of the business needs allowing targets/milestones set to be adequately met.
Ensure that all activities performed and personnel responsible for are closely monitored to ensure the best possible application of safety rules and regulations are applied ensuring full understanding and adherence to Company procedures. Individuals must highlight deficiencies/ requirements (whether for aircraft, hangar for workshops use) through the effective use of reports in support of the overall quality improvement process and actively participate in propagating and enhancing the Group safety culture.
Establish effective up-down rapport with Managers and sub-ordinates to maintain a seamless flow of information to highlight/detect and address any scenarios/events that might be disruptive to the operation.
Ensure all relevant reports pertaining to issues of incidents and accidents, are completed in detail identifying all elements leading up to events.
Responsible for conducting performance reviews for staff under their direct control through the application of the Performance Matters System. Deficiencies or inability to meet objectives/competencies must be highlighted during interim reviews conducted and an agreed course of action implemented to improve/correct any issues identified. Each to be effective in guiding/coaching/counselling junior staff assigned to their team, including National Trainees, ensuring action and development plans are in place to address areas of concern.
Attend training modules as and when required by the Company to enhance skills and understanding that will benefit the business.
Be available to be deployed anywhere throughout the EK operation including diversionary airfields to assist in the recovery of an AOG, and/or the aircraft/component manufacturers facilities to act as EK Rep. to oversee the final assembly of Emirates new aircraft, supervise any outsourced maintenance work and assisting in the acceptance/delivery process.
Where applicable ensure accurate structural inspection / defect / repair reports are raised which would become part of aircraft records.
Qualification
To be considered for this role, you must meet the below requirements:
Qualifications: Degree or Honours (12+3 or equivalent)
Experience: Engineering / Other 8+ Years
Knowledge/Skills:
Degree in Engineering, Aeronautical
Experience in accomplishing and certifying for sheet metal / metallic / composite repairs on aircrafts and aircraft components with a recognized airline or Aircraft Maintenance Organization
Must have served an apprenticeship with an airline/approved organisation or have received equivalent formal training
Must hold full company authorisations in both sheet metal and composite repairs applicable to Emirates fleet within the structure repair category of EPM for both on-aircraft and in workshop issue of C.R.S.
Must have completed seven years aircraft engineering experience with a minimum of five years as an authorisation holder in the structure repair category.
To have had experience in leading a team of mechanics/technicians.
To have a thorough knowledge of airline workshop procedures.
Must be familiar with legislative matters relating to the safe and airworthy operation and maintenance of aircraft to international standards.
