Job Description

The role of an Accounts Assistant is pivotal within the finance department of any organization. As an integral part of the accounting team, an Accounts Assistant supports the day-to-day accounting functions and ensures smooth financial operations. This role demands a meticulous eye for detail, a solid understanding of financial processes, and the ability to work efficiently in a team setting. Accounts Assistants are often involved in processing invoices, managing employee expense claims, and maintaining accurate financial records. They also offer support in preparing financial reports and assist with general administrative duties to maintain the department's workflow. Responsibilities

  • Assist in daily financial transactions such as issuing and reconciling invoices.
  • Maintain and update financial records to ensure accurate accounting data.
  • Support the month-end and year-end closure process to meet deadlines.
  • Prepare bank deposit slips and perform reconciliations of financial accounts.
  • Monitor and process employee expense claims in compliance with company policies.
  • Assist with the preparation of financial reports, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Respond to department inquiries and resolve any discrepancies in accounts.
  • Provide administrative support including filing, data entry, and document management.
  • Assist in ledger maintenance including accounts receivable and payable management.
  • Support audits by providing necessary documentation and information as requested.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to improve accounting processes and procedures.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure financial information accuracy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
  • Proven experience as an Accounts Assistant or similar accounting role.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial procedures.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
  • Exceptional organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for team collaboration.
