Automotive technician will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining vehicles in the first attempt to ensure their optimal performance, safety, and longevity. They use their technical expertise and knowledge of automotive systems to identify and fix mechanical and electrical issues in vehicles.
Responsibilities:
Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues in vehicles.
Perform comprehensive inspections to determine the root cause of problems.
Perform repairs on various vehicle components, including engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, and electrical systems.
Replace faulty parts and components, such as belts, filters, spark plugs, and sensors.
Conduct routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes, tire rotations, and fluid checks.
Follow manufacturer-recommended service schedules to ensure vehicle longevity.
Stay updated with the latest automotive technologies, tools, and repair methods.
Keep up-to-date with advancements in vehicle electronics and computer systems.
Diagnose complex problems using diagnostic equipment and manual testing.
Using tools and adopting best practices as mentioned in service manuals so as to improve the productivity and efficiency
Read, understand and implement instructions in workshop manuals. Use Service checklist where applicable and available
Document repairs, services, and parts used in maintenance records.
Maintain accurate records of work performed and inspections conducted.
Communicate with vehicle owners to explain diagnoses, repair options, and recommended maintenance.
Provide clear explanations of work performed and associated costs.
Ensure that vehicles are repaired and maintained in accordance with safety standards and regulations.
Address safety-related issues promptly to ensure roadworthiness.
High school diploma or equivalent (an associate degree in automotive technology is advantageous).
Formal training and certification in automotive technology or related field.
Strong mechanical and technical aptitude.
Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment and tools.
Knowledge of vehicle systems, components, and their functions.
Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Good communication skills to interact with customers and colleagues.
Physical stamina and dexterity for tasks that require physical effort.
Willingness to stay updated with advancements in automotive technology.
Experience working as an automotive technician or in a related role is beneficial.
