Job Description

The Workshop Manager is an essential leadership role that oversees all aspects of operations within the workshop environment. This position is responsible for managing the team of technicians and ensuring the efficient and effective repair and maintenance of various equipment and machinery. The Workshop Manager plays a crucial role in maintaining high quality standards, optimizing productivity, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. They must demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills, bringing together both technical knowledge and managerial expertise to motivate their team and achieve business goals. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in workshop management and a thorough understanding of mechanical systems and processes.


Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise a team of technicians and support staff in the workshop.
  • Coordinate daily operations to achieve optimal productivity and resource utilization.
  • Develop and implement efficient maintenance and repair schedules for high performance.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations to minimize workplace hazards.
  • Monitor and evaluate team performance, providing appropriate feedback and training.
  • Maintain detailed records of equipment maintenance and repair activities.
  • Communicate with clients to understand their needs and provide excellent customer service.
  • Identify and address operational issues promptly to prevent disruption in services.
  • Manage workshop inventory, ordering supplies, and maintaining stock levels effectively.
  • Prepare financial and operational reports for management to inform decision-making.
  • Implement process improvements to increase operational efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Lead initiatives to enhance team skills through training and professional development.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Workshop Manager or in a similar supervisory role.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems and workshop processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team and manage operational workflows.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills for handling various responsibilities.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in a workshop environment.
  • Strong communication skills for liaising with clients and team members effectively.
  • Ability to analyze operational data and prepare detailed reports for management.
  • Relevant technical or mechanical qualifications, such as a degree or certification.
  • Proficient in using workshop management software and various computer applications.
