Job Description

The Team Lead - General Accounting is a pivotal role within our finance department, responsible for overseeing accounting operations and ensuring accuracy and compliance. This position requires a strong understanding of general accounting principles, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to effectively manage a team of accounting professionals. The Team Lead is tasked with supervising financial reporting, managing month-end and year-end closing processes, and ensuring that the company’s financial practices adhere to legal and company standards. This role demands diligence, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to identifying and solving accounting issues. The successful candidate will possess a combination of technical proficiency and interpersonal acumen, as they will be collaborating with other departments, providing insights, and fostering a productive environment that supports team growth and development.


Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of the general accounting department to ensure accuracy.
  • Lead and manage a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance and support.
  • Coordinate and oversee month-end and year-end closing processes efficiently.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations and company policies.
  • Prepare and review financial reports, statements, and disclosures meticulously.
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors during financial and operational audits.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement effective solutions.
  • Maintain accuracy in accounting records and ensure transparency in financial transactions.
  • Develop and manage financial controls in accordance with company and industry standards.
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate team members to ensure high levels of competence.
  • Liaise with other departments to facilitate financial and accounting operations integration.
  • Analyze financial data and provide insights to upper management for decision-making.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in general accounting or related field.
  • Proven leadership experience in managing and developing high-performing teams.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations is essential.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail for accurate financial reporting.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with varied audiences.
  • Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite is critical.
