Job Description

The Service Advisor - Automotive plays a pivotal role in maintaining positive customer relationships within automotive service departments. Acting as the point of contact between the customer and the automotive technician, they ensure that service delivery is efficient, timely, and meets customer expectations. The Service Advisor must effectively translate automotive jargon into easy-to-understand language for customers, recommending necessary maintenance and repair services while avoiding unnecessary overselling. This role requires a deep understanding of automotive systems, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage a busy service schedule. Whether managing routine maintenance appointments or unexpected repairs, the Service Advisor must be organized, personable, and customer-focused to keep the service department running smoothly.


Responsibilities

  • Serve as the main point of contact for all customer automotive service needs.
  • Explain service recommendations and required maintenance to customers in easy-to-understand terms.
  • Prepare detailed repair orders for service technicians based on customer needs.
  • Coordinate vehicle drop-off and pick-up services for all customers.
  • Maintain detailed records of customer interactions and service transactions.
  • Ensure customer complaints and service issues are resolved promptly and effectively.
  • Schedule service appointments efficiently to maximize workshop productivity.
  • Discuss with customers any changes to initial service estimates before work begins.
  • Inform and update customers on the progress of their vehicle's service.
  • Liaise between service technicians and customers to ensure clear communication.
  • Handle customer inquiries about service options, prices, and timelines professionally.
  • Assist in the delivery and documentation of warranty services and special orders.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; further education is advantageous.
  • Prior experience as a Service Advisor is preferred in the automotive industry.
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong understanding of automotive service processes and vehicle repairs.
  • Capability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in using computer systems and service management software.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail are a must.
