Job Description

The Senior Quantity Surveyor role is crucial in overseeing all aspects of cost management for construction projects from inception to completion. The individual will be responsible for ensuring that projects are delivered on time and within budget while maintaining the highest quality standards. As a key team member, the Senior Quantity Surveyor will work closely with project managers, engineers, contractors, and clients to ensure financial efficiency and transparency throughout the project lifecycle. Their analytical skills and attention to detail will aid in assessing project risks and implementing cost-effective solutions. Additionally, the Senior Quantity Surveyor will mentor junior staff, contributing to the growth and success of the department. Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review detailed project budgets and cost estimates for construction projects.
  • Conduct thorough cost analyses and forecasts to predict financial outcomes accurately.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients to ensure project success.
  • Manage contracts and negotiate terms with suppliers and subcontractors effectively.
  • Oversee procurement processes to ensure timely delivery of materials within budget constraints.
  • Coordinate with project managers to align cost control methods with project timelines.
  • Analyze and report on project performance related to financial targets and schedules.
  • Implement risk management strategies to identify and mitigate financial risks.
  • Prepare detailed valuation reports for work completed and manage invoicing processes.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements in all financial operations.
  • Mentor and guide junior quantity surveyors to foster team development and skills enhancement.
  • Utilize construction management software to maintain accurate financial records and reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • At least 8 years of experience in quantity surveying within the construction industry.
  • Proven track record of managing large-scale construction project budgets effectively.
  • Excellent negotiation and contract management skills are essential for this role.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret numerical data accurately.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard construction management and financial software.
  • Professional certification from a recognized Quantity Surveyors’ institution is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within project teams.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills for managing multiple projects.
