Job Description

The Senior Procurement Engineer for Electrical & Instrumentation is an essential role within any organization aiming to optimize their supply chain in the energy sector. The primary focus is on acquiring electrical and instrumentation materials and components essential for maintaining and enhancing operational efficiency. The incumbent will be responsible for developing cost-efficient procurement strategies while ensuring compliance with industry standards. By liaising with suppliers and negotiating contracts, this role ensures the organization receives high-quality materials at the most favorable pricing. Candidates should be adept at technical specifications, rigorous supplier evaluation, and sustaining long-term supplier partnerships, all while contributing to continuous improvement in procurement processes.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies for electrical and instrumentation equipment.
  • Evaluate suppliers and negotiate contract terms for optimal pricing and quality.
  • Conduct market analysis to determine potential supply sources and market trends.
  • Ensure materials meet technical specifications and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with project management teams to align procurement activities with project timelines.
  • Maintain long-term supplier partnerships to ensure a consistent supply chain.
  • Monitor supplier performance and address any quality or delivery issues promptly.
  • Prepare and manage purchase orders to streamline acquisition processes.
  • Coordinate with the finance department for budget forecasting and spending analysis.
  • Implement and monitor key performance indicators to assess procurement efficiency.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to junior procurement staff.
  • Continuously research and apply best practices in procurement and supply chain management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of five years experience in procurement within the energy sector.
  • Proven track record in negotiating favorable terms with suppliers.
  • Strong understanding of electrical and instrumentation components and standards.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective stakeholder engagement.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret technical specifications and drawings.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite applications.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in high-pressure environments.
