A Senior Media Planner is a strategically minded and highly skilled professional responsible for leading the development and management of comprehensive media plans that maximize advertising effectiveness across various media platforms. This role demands advanced expertise in evaluating media performance, planning media campaigns, and ensuring alignment with overall marketing objectives. The Senior Media Planner must possess the ability to analyze market research, understand consumer behavior, and make data-driven decisions to optimize media investments. They are often expected to mentor and provide guidance to junior staff while building strong relationships with media vendors and other external partners. This position is vital for delivering successful advertising campaigns that reach the right audiences with the right message, efficiently utilizing the budget, and measuring the outcomes effectively.


Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive media strategies based on in-depth market research and analysis.
  • Collaborate with creative teams to align media plans with advertising campaigns.
  • Monitor media trends and identify opportunities for innovative media solutions.
  • Plan and execute multi-channel media campaigns including digital, print, and broadcast.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with media vendors and negotiate rates.
  • Evaluate media proposals for effectiveness and negotiate terms to optimize budgets.
  • Analyze post-campaign performance data to provide insights and recommendations.
  • Lead client discussions to understand their marketing objectives and offer strategic solutions.
  • Supervise and train junior planners on media planning techniques and tools.
  • Ensure all media plans comply with the legal, ethical, and industry standards.
  • Manage budget allocations and report on their effectiveness to stakeholders.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry developments and integrate them into media strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, or a related field.
  • At least five years of experience in media planning or a related role.
  • Proficiency in media planning software and industry-standard analytics tools.
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience dealing with media vendors.
  • Excellent analytical skills for evaluating data and reporting on campaign performance.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adhere to tight deadlines.
  • Exceptional communication skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams and clients.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and experience mentoring junior staff.
  • In-depth understanding of current digital marketing and advertising trends.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail in all deliverables.
