Purpose and Objectives for the Role

Senior IT Specialist is a crucial member of the IT department responsible for providing technical assistance and support to employees or customers. This role requires extensive expertise in cloud technologies, server maintenance, and advanced system management. Your primary goal is to ensure the smooth operation of computer systems, hardware, software, and other technological equipment.

Overall Responsibilities

  • Manage cloud networking and security (Firewalls, NSGs, ASGs, WAFs) and monitor the logging of systems.
  • Linux Administration: Administer and maintain Linux servers, including system configuration, performance tuning, and security hardening.
  • Assist in daily administration and operational activities including monitoring, support, and maintenance of Azure workloads.
  • Understand and support DNS services which are cloud native and third-party tools like Infoblox to integrate with Azure.
  • Create and maintain documentation for Microsoft 365 configurations and procedures.
  • Monitor the performance and usage of Microsoft 365 services.
  • Stay up to date with the latest Microsoft 365 updates and best practices. Perform regular audits and assessments of the Microsoft 365 environment.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for Microsoft 365 usage.
  • Provide technical support for Microsoft 365-related projects.
  • Assist in the migration of data to Microsoft 365 services.
  • Manage user accounts, licenses, and permissions in Microsoft 365.
  • Help Desk Support: Responding to IT-related inquiries, providing guidance, and resolving technical problems faced by employees or customers.
  • Software Installation and Configuration: Installing, upgrading, and configuring software applications on workstations and mobile devices as required.
  • Hardware Maintenance: Handling the setup, maintenance, and repair of computer hardware, printers, scanners, and other peripherals.
  • Network Support: Assisting with network connectivity issues, including setting up and configuring network equipment and troubleshooting network-related problems.
  • User Account Management: Creating and managing user accounts, access permissions, and security settings for various systems and applications.
  • Security Management: Implementing security measures and protocols to safeguard the organizations data, systems, and network infrastructure.

Skills Required

  • Strong knowledge of computer systems, hardware, and software applications.
  • Cloud Expertise: In-depth knowledge of Azure Cloud services and architecture, including virtual machines, storage solutions, and network configurations.
  • Linux Proficiency: Advanced skills in managing Linux-based systems, including command-line interface usage, shell scripting, and system administration.
  • Entra ID Knowledge: Experience with Entra ID for managing user identities, group policies, and access controls.
  • Networking Skills: Proficiency in configuring and managing Cisco Meraki devices and understanding network protocols and security.
  • Troubleshooting: Excellent problem-solving abilities with a focus on diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues in hardware and software.
  • Familiarity with operating systems, such as Windows, macOS, or Linux.

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or Electronic Engineering
  • Several years’ experience in system engineering, with significant exposure to Azure Cloud, Linux administration, Entra ID, Meraki networking and Desktop support
  • Fluent English communication skills, written and Verbal
