Job Description

The Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring the well-being of all employees by developing and implementing the organization's comprehensive safety programs. This role involves identifying potential hazards, establishing safety protocols, and training employees on emergency procedures to ensure a safe and secure workplace environment. The Safety Officer must stay up-to-date on the latest health and safety regulations and practices. They play a critical role in coordinating accident investigation processes, assessing risks, and providing guidance on preventative measures to avoid future incidents. Additionally, they collaborate with various departments to foster a culture of safety and compliance throughout the organization, while also working to improve overall operational safety effectiveness. With great attention to detail and strong communication skills, the Safety Officer must demonstrate leadership in emergency scenarios and conduct thorough audits and inspections to keep the risk levels minimal.


Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive safety policies and procedures for all operations.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of health and safety regulations relevant to the industry.
  • Coordinate safety training programs to educate employees on safety practices.
  • Investigate incidents and accidents to determine root causes and preventative measures.
  • Collaborate with management to ensure compliance with safety legislation and standards.
  • Advise departments on proper safety equipment and practices for daily operations.
  • Prepare and submit reports on safety activities and incident outcomes to management.
  • Monitor the implementation of corrective actions to resolve health and safety issues.
  • Conduct risk assessments and provide recommendations for minimizing operational risks.
  • Facilitate emergency drills and simulations to gauge readiness and response effectiveness.
  • Ensure proper documentation and maintenance of health and safety records and logs.


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health, Safety Management, or a related field.
  • Certification as a Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent desired for the role.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in a safety officer position or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations and compliance standards required in industry.
  • Proven ability to conduct thorough investigations and implement corrective solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively train and guide all employees.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multiple departments to improve safety culture.
